Our activities
Aceh Aquatic Youth carries out practical environmental programs across Aceh with young volunteers, coastal communities, and institutional partners.
The team has planted more than 1,000 coral fragments in the waters of Sabang and Banda Aceh while supporting nursery care and monitoring for damaged reef ecosystems.
More than 1,000 mangrove seedlings have also been planted in coastal areas to reduce erosion, strengthen habitats, and support coastal biodiversity.
Beach clean-ups, workshops, public talks, and field learning help communities understand marine pollution, reef ecology, and the role everyone can play in long-term conservation.
Each field cycle starts with site observations, practical safety planning, and coordination with local partners. The team considers water conditions, existing habitat pressures, access, and the care required after an activity ends.
After planting, volunteers document locations, photograph changes, check nursery structures, and record survival or damage. Consistent monitoring helps the team learn which methods work and where maintenance is still needed.
The work also creates practical learning opportunities for students and coastal youth. By joining preparation, field activities, and follow-up checks, participants build skills they can use in future community conservation efforts.
